Providing safe learning to children in Sri Lanka

Fellowship International missionary Ronald Jeyaseelan oversees the Love Trust ministry in Sri Lanka. This Fellowship Child Sponsorship ministry provides holistic care for over 100 children in four remote communities in rural Sri Lanka. Ronald recently visited the preschool facilities in Valathapity and saw that the building was desperately in need of repair. The building, suffering critical roof damage from beetles, is no longer safe for the preschool’s 65 children. Instead, they’ve been forced to move to an adjacent outdoor space shared with other community activities as a short-term solution. Outside, the children’s learning is affected by the presence of many wild and dangerous animals, including monkeys and poisonous snakes, and is at the mercy of the elements.

Through the Love Trust Building Repairs project, FAIR is seeking to raise $35,000 to bring the Valathapity preschool children back into a safe building. Because the repairs were so urgently needed, repairs and renovations were started and completed in early 2024 by faith. Praise God!

Funds raised will be used to cover the cost of the Valathapity renovation project, including replacing the current building’s roof and rafters, and purchasing the resources necessary to provide holistic care to students and families in Valathapity and other marginalized communities in Sri Lanka.

Throughout the month of April we’re highlighting FAIR’s Love Trust Building Repairs catalogue project as part of the Catch the Vision special appeal. We will be sharing stories about the impact of this ministry on the FAIR blog and social media platforms.
