Location:
Chernihiv, Ukraine
Pastor/Leader:
Viktor Stepanovich Vasylenko
History and Context:
The region around the city of Chernihiv was under Russian control in February 2022 during the first days of the war. The city resisted and the Russian army eventually withdrew from the area. Due to the ongoing conflict in close proximity to the city, many of the church leaders have left. The church often has difficulty with loss of electrical power during services.
Bethany Evangelical Baptist Church has a heart to train up the next generation of leaders and does so through the Chernihiv Regional Bible College which meets in the church building. They have a vision and desire to change the method of involving and mentoring youth in the church.
Primary Ministries:
Bethany Evangelical Baptist Church organizes frequent evangelistic events within the community. These events include food distribution to families and individuals in need, children’s camps, and ministering to the emotional and spiritual needs of those affected by the war.
Current Needs:
- Purchase of the equipment needed to provide uninterrupted power
- Purchase of food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other essential items to distribute to those in need
