Love Trust Building Repairs

The goal of FAIR’s ministry in Sri Lanka is to provide educational, nutritional, and financial support for over 100 children through the Love Trust Fellowship Child Sponsorship program. Love Trust has preschool facilities located in four remote communities, with the ultimate goal of building a foundation for reconciliation, first with the Lord and then among the members of the broader community.
The preschool building in Valathapity, where about 65 children attend, was constructed in 2006 and is in urgent need of repair. The existing building has one large room with an elevated platform in the front, and one toilet shared by staff and students. It has asbestos roofing and timber rafters, which over time have been damaged by beetles. The damage to the rafters is critical and has seriously impacted the safety of operating the preschool in that building. As a result, the preschool program has been forced to move to an adjacent outdoor space, shared with other community activities. The space is exposed to the elements along with wild animals like monkeys, elephants, and snakes, making it very much a short-term solution.
Through the Love Trust Building Repairs project, FAIR is seeking to raise $35,000 to make the Valathapity building safe to use again. Funds raised will be used to:
- replace the building’s roof and rafters
- update the interior to include the addition of two new washrooms (one for boys and one for girls)
- refinish the existing washroom for staff-only use
- build additional office space at the back of the building
- reinforce and refinish the walls
- Any remaining funds will be used to meet the infrastructure or material needs of other Love Trust locations.
