Project Freedom

PROJECT #: 3443

RESOURCE:

In the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and Stan regions, being put in jail means losing hope for the future. Over 95% of the prisoners in these countries are men. Since they are often the primary source of income for their family, their families are left to fend for themselves.

Some of the inmates are there because of their own illegal activities, like selling drugs and alcohol. Some are imprisoned for debts or for guaranteeing the debts of friends, neighbours, or family members. In some countries, the prisons are filled with political prisoners. Regardless of the reason for their incarceration, each prisoner needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, and they need support both inside and outside of the jail to ensure they can live a life of integrity.

As part of the Stronger Together ministry, Fellowship International missionary Roula Karkafi oversees chaplains who are sharing the hope of the Gospel with inmates in five countries within the MENA and Stan regions. FAIR is seeking to raise $50,000 to help equip and empower these chaplains through Project Freedom as they extend the love of Christ to these men and their families. Funds raised will help supply food and medicine to inmates, ex-inmates and their families in the context of Discovery Bible groups inside and outside the prisons. Funds will also be used to provide economic activities for ex-inmates who having difficulty acquiring legitimate work.

Please pray for ex-inmates as they seek to grow in faith and find new vocations that are pleasing to the Lord and can support their families.
